Farrer

In early 1948 it was announced that a 'Famous Australians' series would be issued over the following years. The 1st was this one, the Centenary of the birth of William James Farrer, developer of rust resistant wheat. Prior to this the Australian colonies had relied almost solely on corn for a grain crop.
