Plating

Perforations are not reliable.

It depended entirely which way the dual sheet started.

However: No perfs in top of sheet can only ever be top plate, no perfs bottom imprint, can only ever be bottom plate

Because most sheets were perfed from top plate, very few imprints show no perfs.

right side no perf guides (no splodge upper)

an upper plate indicated by splodge, and or perf guide and watermark

left is a harrison plate splodge, right is a typical cooke jubline and no splodge == quad plate?
